Lamorna to Marazion

Lamorna to Marazion - Tuesday 16th April 2013

Path Facts - Length: 9.4 miles, Ascent: 604 feet

Set off just after 9 am. Descended into Lamorna then up a fair climb out to the cliff tops. There were some tricky passages with mixtures of wet mud then boulders making it challenging underfoot.

Bright but overcast today. Probably would have got views right across to the Lizard on a clear day.

All of today's ascent (604 ft) was first thing then the rest was road and track walking on flat, and fairly built up.

Stopped briefly at Mousehole.

Then again at Newlyn.

Just to give a fair representation of the varied nature of the path, it ain't all pretty:

Andy's encounter with Mange the cat.

Stopped again at Penzance for lunch at Poolside Indulgence which was good food but I'd skip the Cornish tea in retrospect.

They had been painting the pool and apparently the blue paint on the ear thing always happens to the dog.

A brief jaunt through Penzance...

... before picking up the path again by the bus station where it continues along the railway edge. It would be fairly uneventful walking if it weren't for the views of St Michael's Mount.

Arrived at Marazion 4 pm-ish. Coffee and ice cream at a Gallery cum Tea Shop and a mooch around (it's been extreme today).

The B&B was fairly dated but a good place with a sea view, interesting nick-nacks in the interior and again a separate lounge area. You even get a free W Axl Rose in every room.

Ate out at the King's Arms then over to the Godolphin Arms where you can view St Michael's Mount from the window.
