Zennor to Pendeen - Thursday 13th September 2012
Path Facts - Length: 8.3 miles, Ascent: 1924 feet*
A shortish day to end this leg with. The backpackers was quiet with only one other guest. 8.30 am breakfast for an extra £3 for cereal + tea / coffee.
Walking was again like moorland with slow going over boulders and boggy stretches but with spectacular coastal views and some good sun.
Climbers on the rocks...
Some good terrain before stopping via a brief detour inland for lunch at Morvah.
Not a bad little place to stop. Art gallery with built in tea shop.
Back to the path then resumed the approach to the lighthouse at Pendeen Watch.
We were pretty near finishing at this point but it was quite early so an ice cream and bench with views across to Geevor Mine was handy.
Then this happened...
That's how you celebrate completion of an SWCP leg.
Stopped briefly at the cafe at Geevor Mine for tea. Then, after a somewhat leisurely finale, we arrived at the B&B (The Old Manse) at about 5pm. Nice place to stay. Recommended. Would have booked here for the start of Leg 6 but logistics necessitated otherwise.
Off to The North Inn in Pendeen for the PM for a Proper Job and a curry. Somewhat OD'd on food today. Oh well. Six months before we do it again.

Postscript
On Friday we had a look round Geevor Mine which is well worth a visit. Then bused it back to St Ives for a night out before parting company on the Saturday. Friday night was, although probably lightweight in many people's books, nonetheless an above average measure of booze.... then this happened...

*Note: Due to not having an accurate ascent figure for this section and the Zennor to Pendeen section, the 1924 feet figure is an estimate split over the two days. Probably today was the greater ascent.
